sorry for the long absence.
internet is no more fun for me when im so occupied with family n friends. i know wat ur thinking.. "awwwwww"......... but its true.
and since the 1st of August... bz with attachment in HQE, emergency dept.
so many things to tell.. so bloody tired.
oopps.
a little deprived of sleep
not because attachment starts at 8am (tats a reasonable hour), but instead due to the fact tat i have to reluctantly wake up at 5am n leave by 5:30am so tat mum n i can send lil bro to school by 6, then mum goes to work at 7... and im dropped off an HOUR early to the hospital..
during this time i read the newspapers very2 slowly and go through every article.. hence, im pretty upto-date with current events like mj's mum now has custody of his kids (not in any particular way useful info but still... i read the entertainment section first :D)
neway bck to topic
its so so so very interesting in A&E now.
in the beginning... i remember the hours spent standing trying to look bz when there are no cases in the ward, or the time when we first started and felt completely lost in a world where everyone is walking with a purpose and rushing to get something done and of course the leg aches from all that standing.
it took some getting used to.
the key is to be proactive. or in other words "kuat menyibuk"
some have this God-given talent while others have to jadi muka tembok jg la.
"errr.. nurse bole kami observe?"
"errr.. o.. apa skt dia ah?"
etc etc
at first i felt like i was in the way of their efficient workings.. but a few days into it.. i started to get into the groove.
gone is the shyness. in order to learn.. i shall be "proactive"
and the staff (MA,HO,nurses) have accepted our presence.
they even allow us to do more procedures now and we dont even have to ask anymore. they seem to want to teach these eager-to-please med students who trail them everywhere.
ive done several ECG's, BP and Pulse rate recordings and a few injections even (with supervision of course)
might seem like a small achievement to some.. but for me..

small baby steps hehe.
however observation wise is amazing.
i know i sound very jakun.......
but i just saw a little boy's head cracked open due to a falling brick that landed on his head and the part tat made me jakun was that the Doctor INVITED us to touch the fractured skull of the boy so that we could learn how it felt like. So 3 of us observing this boy slipped on some sterilized gloves and felt his fractured skull through his large open wound.
fuh. thats wat i call learning.
imma never forget that.
there were so many other cases... but im pooped.
all in all.. first week of elective attachment in HQE Emergency Dept has been fun and very educational.
