1st snow flake of the winter!

the 1st snow flake of 2008's winter landed on my eyelash today... last year we were taking pics like crazy.. but i guess we kinda got used to it already.

neway on the way to nursing therapy class today it was snowing heavily.. n this continued the whole day. But the temperature was only +1.4 dgrees today so the snow flakes quickly melted as it landed. All we got from a whole day of raining snow was muddy roads.. n it aint purty.

Hoping the winter wont be too cold this year.. i just hate wearing socks to bed.. my toes need breathing space too~ lol. The central heating in the building is still sufficient for now.. but i have my 9-fin heater on standby if ever it gets too cold.

its getting dark real early too.. 4:30pm n it already looks like 8pm. In a way its quite helpful. It makes u think tat its 10pm n u tend to study earlier now.

well enuf about the weather report hehe... todays Nursing theraphy class was interesting.
remember the theoretical injections class the other day? well today was our practical.
we met our dear old patient again (mr pillow) n began stabbing the poor thing.
the "right" way of course. Madam Yelena was keeping a watchful eye on us the whole time. While practicing our intravenous injections on Stacy.. (lol.. yep my roomate was also the patient of the day.. altho we dint actually inject her), Madam Yelena was attending to patients in our class. She was expertly multi tasking between us and her patients.

However there was this one patient tat my heart went out too.. She looked well, in her 50's mayb, but seemingly very unhappy. Madam took her blood pressure.. talked with her.. and asked her..

Madam: Kak vei chustvuitye? (how do u feel?)
Patient: fvse ploxa... ochen ploxa (everythings bad.. very bad)
Then madam was obviously comforting her.. holding her hand.. but i couldnt understand the rest of their conversation anymore..
And as madam did this.. the lady burst into tears.. and continued crying even as madam went out to do something.
We tried not to stare.. but u cant help but want to console someone when they have seemingly received a bad diagnosis. Still.. wat cud we do.. we cudnt even talk russian properly yet.

so we just continued to do our little injections into the pillow. Thankfully she stopped crying soon after..

We figured out why madam went out soon after.. she wanted the class to go follow the nurse on her rounds so that she could have the room to herself n the patient.

Off we went then... following the nurse, observing her. As we entered the wards with the nurse.. a lot of old people were there.. they were all so loving n friendly.. calling us in to study them... some even tried to make friends.. damm! shud really improve my russian.

priority num 1 : study the language better!! i am gonna be here for another 4 1/2 years.. huhuhu...

ive a two hour break before my physiology lec.. so i decided to come home from my nursing theraphy class in the hospital this morning to jot down some words of wat happened.

it was a funny class today. dint know my teacher Yelena Alexevna (i know.. the name sounds so cool ryte) was act very dramatic in acting out scenes for us today. Today our topic was about Injections.... subcutaneous,intramuscular,intravenous n etc..

she explained us the different2 types of syringes, needles and how to correctly break open an glass ampule.

then she asked who would like to become the patient today.. n since no one answered.. she went to her cupboard n took out a pillow. she actually hugged n fluffed up her pillow and said "hello my dear patient".

Yelena : Now students how zu we correctly pirform an intramuscular injection?
Us: err... perpendicular? 90 degress?
Yelena: yes yes.. needle must be straight. see here pls students.

and suddenly she just jabbed the needle into the pillow full force and said "like this"

we looked at her not sure if she was asking a question or was stating a fact.
only when she said "poor patient... no no.. zu kill the patient" and stroked the pillow did we realize it was a joke.
fuh~ u must be one hell of a crazy doc to inject sumone like tat.

Yelena: very good now. Tell me pls.. where is the localization of such injections?
Us: err.. buttocks??
Yelena: yes yes.. very good. which part of the buttock students?
Us: err.. somewhere up here (showing our buttocks to her)
Yelena: specific name pls.. Upper lateral quadrant.. Da students?
Us: Da Da... (upper wat??)
Yelena: tak. tak. tak. (so.. so.. so..) So this part has no blood vessels or big nerves.. Here u may do as u please.
Us: er.. ok. (sounds so wrong)

anyway~
i dint know our buttocks cud be divided into four sections. and only one can be injected into.. coz if u were to inject into the other 3 sections... u cud be injecting into the sacrum or into ur ischiadicus nerve which will then cause intense pain followed by paralysis. In which case.. u'll be making it up to ur patient for life... fuh~ its never easy.

even the word itself underestimates our Deepa-Raya nite.

its was so hectic and adrenaline pumping. especially backstage when we have only 5 mins left before we perform n my hairs not made yet... make-up not touched up.. and some members of our dance missing. Only 2 mins before going on stage was i able to tie up my hair into a bun.. then i was telling my dancemates to relax.. when deep down inside it was actually a way for me to relax as well. And as soon as the "Org Kita" song by Abu bakar ellah came on...

all i can say was tat there was a lotta panic below... thank God we manage to get evryone in line before we performed. once we were on.. the panic subsided and the performance felt so short altho it was actually a full 8 minutes of dancing. In my mind.. i was as cool as a cat. yap yap. i rili was... hehehe... i think im getting used to performing on stage. Those psalmist(singing psalms for church) gigs helped i guess. Manage to get tru magunatip in one piece too. Got a big applause for tat. Im guessing the russians havent seen tat before. But the most important thing is.... i dint turn into a tomato on stage. muahahahahaha~

i felt so *bling2* in my dress too^_^.

so exciting~ ^_^

im glad everyone enjoyed the performance too.

cam whored all through the nite... thank u mr "camera" man. *wink2*

*sigh*

but i dont know when i might be able to where the dress again... owh well~.. still was a hell of a nite ^_^

owh n MyGames is starting next week. Will be playing for netball and basketball. Guess wat we're calling our team.... 1Borneo~ lol... im not being kenegerian or anything.. our team just happens to be from sabah n swak.. hence the name. uu~ cant wait!

im sooooo nervous! heart-pumping, cold sweat in my palms n everlasting thirst in my mouth nervous.

im listening to 'Vertical Horizon - Best i ever had' to chill~

the thing is tat tonite is Deepa-Raya Nite!!! ony a few more hours before we go on stage ^_^ im more excited actually. I know our dance is rili nice... "very awesome" a quote from our seniors.. lol. minta puji. But its kinda pressuring too. If there was no Magunatip part (dancing with bamboo sticks clicking at our heels) i wouldnt be so nervous.. My hands are cold. Im praying i dont stumble and fall... tats all i ask! Not in my Murut dress... haih haih haih~~~~

Need to sangul my hair sumore... then wear heavy2 metal belts n heavy2 bangles... owh man.. i hope i have the strenght to carry it all.

Lol.. im exagerating.

Im sure it will be fine. (PULEZZZ let it be fine)

Well anyway.. i dont know who i can ask to help me with makeup. I can do the basic2 things.. but somehow when performing, u need to apply a lot more to make it more obvious to the audience. So i'll be asking someone last2 minit la this.. haih2~
